The Forest and the Trees: The Full Automation Discovery Suite

NICE RPA and Minit Process Mining Partner to Expand Breadth and Depth of Automated Process Discovery

The economic effects of COVID-19 are still being realized, but one that has already become highly apparent is the need for rapid digital transformation and increased business process efficiencies within enterprises spanning all vertical markets. Even as some companies begin to transition back to the office, organizations are more conscious, than ever before, of the importance in assessing their operational efficiency and identifying opportunities to further boost productivity. Ascertaining the precise opportunities to drive improvement  and greater return on investment is now a key focus area and challenge to be conquered.

What is evident from this crisis, is that challenges of this magnitude require partnerships and collaborations. We are excited to announce our partnership with Minit Process Mining to provide our customers with the most valuable suite of smart automation offerings, by expanding the breadth and depth of automation opportunity discovery.

In a previous blog, Yaron Bialy highlighted the difference between two tools that identify automation opportunities – Process Discovery and Process Mining.  Each has their merits but require different resources and reveal different results.

Let’s recap:

  • Process Discovery analyzes how users interact with applications on their desktops, without any external dependencies, and applies artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze the data and recommend automation opportunities. Process Discovery doesn’t require a pre-defined process to yield a productive analysis - it automates the opportunity discovery for you. It allows a user or organization to look at the entire "forest" of processes and identify each tree (or even the specific branches) that are ideal to automate.
  • Process Mining, on the other hand, helps you see the composition of a particular "tree". Mining requires pre-selecting a business process and collecting event log files to show a high level, end-to-end view of the process and the opportunities for improvement. Minit’s visual and interactive process maps and statistics, provide a high-level view of the optimal end-to-end process candidates for automation.

Again, each has their merits, with different use-cases, and accordingly different outcomes. But why should you compromise if you can get it all?

Organizations can now enjoy the combined benefit of NICE’s Automation Finder and Minit’s Process Mining. This combination enables graphical mapping and prioritization of end-to-end processes, along with finer sequences and routines. Organizations can now equip themselves with a  comprehensive understanding of their processes and select where and how they can automate each process for a proven return on investment.
